Job summary

The Herald Group is a full-service, bipartisan public affairs firm in Washington, DC. We seek an Accounting Manager to support the Controller across accounting operations and financial reporting, with ownership of core functions from day one.

Ideal candidate has 5+ years of accounting, GAAP knowledge, and proficiency in QuickBooks Online and advanced Excel. The role offers a visible path to scale finance as the firm grows, with hybrid work options.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience with some supervisory or team lead experience.
• Strong general ledger, reconciliations, and month-end close knowledge.
• Proficiency in QuickBooks Online and advanced Excel; GAAP proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Maintain the general ledger, journal entries, account analysis and transaction coding.
• Prepare monthly financial statements and supporting schedules; assist in month-end close.
• Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis; monitor cash flow.
