Job summary

6 Degrees Search is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to supervise monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, manage internal financial reporting, and perform detailed account analysis in a high-volume environment.

Responsibilities include supervising staff, ensuring GAAP compliance and SOX controls, coordinating with external auditors, and providing strategic recommendations for process improvements. Strong Excel and analytical skills are required.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of accounting experience, including supervisory experience in a high-volume transaction environment.
• Strong understanding and application of GAAP.
• Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of internal controls and SOX compliance.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, along with strong interpersonal, organizational, and customer service skills.
• Demonstrated ability to lead teams through change positively.
• Working knowledge and analytical skills to make independent judgments in relation to complex accounting processes and the business.
• Strong computer and analytical skills - High proficiency in Excel, working knowledge of Access.
• Ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects/tasks in a high-volume, changing environment.
• Ability to maintain efficient and effective financial systems and procedures.
• Self-motivated with ability to work under and meet strict deadlines individually as well as in a team environment.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees.
• Ability to work flexible hours as required.

Responsibilities

• Supervise associates, including but not limited to: staffing, training, coaching, performance management, and problem resolution.
• Supervise and participate in monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting close for company.
• Perform and/or review complex accounting reconciliation and analysis.
• Direct activities of teams responsible for general ledger accounting, vendor billing, cash reconciliation, fixed assets, and related capital expenditure accounting.
• Provide strategic recommendations for process improvements and efficient use of resources.
• Effectively lead team(s) through change.
• Maintain integrity of the general ledger.
• Ensure transactions are performed within a sound internal control environment.
• Perform financial analysis as required.
• Prepare various ad hoc reports, conduct analyses, and complete special projects as required.
• Recommend and ensure adherence to accounting policies.
• Prepare and review schedules for internal/external auditors in connection with reviews/audits.
• Perform other related duties as assigned
