Job summary

Basis is seeking a senior accounting leader in Chicago to guide month-end close, ensure accurate US GAAP reporting, and lead the accounting team through audits and external reporting. You will partner with FP&A and tax, drive process improvements, and implement AI-powered efficiencies.

Ideal candidates have a CPA, 8+ years of accounting experience, 2+ years of leadership, and a proven ability to communicate financial results to stakeholders in a fast-paced, inclusive environment.

Qualifications

• Deep knowledge of US GAAP and strong financial reporting
• Active CPA license and 8+ years accounting experience
• Proven leadership with 2+ years managing an accounting team
• Experience using AI tools to improve efficiency
• Excellent communication of financial results to stakeholders
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and collaborate cross-functionally

Responsibilities

• Own month-end close process and ensure accurate revenue/cost recording
• Lead and mentor Accounting team and drive career development
• Oversee annual audit and liaise with external auditors
• Coordinate US GAAP financial statements, footnotes, and external reporting
• Research accounting guidance on complex topics and prepare memos
• Identify process improvements and deploy AI-driven automation
• Manage chart of accounts, GL, and financial statements
• Collaborate with FP&A on budgets and forecasts
