Job summary

LHH is seeking a Senior Manager, Segment Accounting in Charlotte to lead accounting operations for a major business segment and partner with finance, operations, and executives to ensure accurate reporting.

The ideal candidate will drive close processes, strengthen internal controls, and develop a high-performing team while aligning with GAAP, SEC reporting, and SOX standards. This is a high-visibility leadership role with meaningful impact.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
• CPA strongly preferred.
• 8+ years of progressive accounting experience in a public company.
• Deep understanding of U.S. GAAP, SEC reporting, and SOX compliance.
• Experience leading teams through transformation and change.

Responsibilities

• Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process for a large operating segment.
• Ensure accurate, GAAP-compliant financial results and reporting.
• Review and approve journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analyses.
• Drive remediation efforts for internal control and process improvement initiatives.
• Partner with Internal Audit, SOX, Corporate Accounting, FP&A, and external auditors.
• Support SEC reporting requirements, including 10-Q and 10-K deliverables.
• Identify opportunities for automation, efficiency, and reporting enhancements.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of accounting managers and senior accountants.

You'll serve as the accounting leader for the segment, partnering with finance, operations, audit, and executive leadership to ensure accurate reporting, drive process improvements, and create a sustainable control environment.

What You'll Own

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance

• Public company accounting experience
• Deep understanding of U.S. GAAP, SEC reporting, and SOX compliance
• Experience leading teams through periods of transformation and change
• Strong leadership, communication, and cross-functional partnership skills

Preferred Experience

• Big 4 or national public accounting background
• Segment Controller or business unit accounting leadership experience
• Internal control remediation and process redesign experience
• Exposure to Oracle ERP, FCCS, ARCS, or other financial reporting systems
