Job Overview:

The Senior Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the accounting responsibilities ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and compliance of all financial transactions and records. The position will lead accounting operations while actively participating in daily tasks such as reconciliations, financial reporting, and audit preparation.

SR Accounting Manager Duties and Responsibilities:

• Enforce accounting standards, procedures, and internal controls.
• Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual closings.
• Prepare and analyze P&L statements, balance sheets, and internal financial reports.
• Lead audits, insurance renewals, and financial planning processes.
• Oversee cash management activities, including reconciliations and postings.
• Perform complex journal entries and reconciliations.
• Act as backup and support to AR and AP functions.
• Set up customer accounts and manage credit limits in Great Plains (ERP).
• Maintain and reconcile GL accounts and support tax compliance (e.g., sales/use tax).
• Identify process improvement opportunities and implement best practices.
• Engage in CAPA (Corrective and Preventive Action) initiatives.
• Assist with training schedules and cross-departmental accounting coordination.
• Analyze inventory valuation and lead physical inventory counts and roll-forwards.

Skills and Qualifications:

• Solid understanding of GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; ERP experience preferred (Microsoft Dynamics GP).
• Ability to multitask, prioritize, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (required)
• CPA certification (preferred)
• 7 years of progressive accounting experience in manufacturing
• Experience in chemical manufacturing and ERP systems highly preferred
