Job summary

The County of Hawai‘i is seeking an experienced accounting professional to oversee and maintain large segments of the department’s financial records. You will manage posting, reconciliation, and reporting of fiscal data, while ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulations.

You will supervise payroll processes, prepare financial reports, and support grant management and procurement activities within the Department of Finance.

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school.
• Three years of account recordkeeping involving preparation, review, and processing of accounts payable/receivable and/or employee payroll; and preparation of fiscal reports.

Responsibilities

• Oversees and maintains accounting records for a major section of a department’s accounting system.
• Sets up and maintains paper and electronic journals, ledgers, and related subsidiary records.
• Classifies and codes expenditures or revenues and posts to budgetary accounts.
• Purchases supplies and processes requisitions, purchase orders, and invoices into the financial system.
• Verifies and balances vouchers, invoices, and data for accuracy; distributes charges to accounts.
• Receives, deposits, and records cash collections; maintains related records.
• Prepares trial balances and financial reports for budgeting and annual reports.
• Supervises payroll processing and audits payroll reports for accuracy; maintains personnel records.
• Communicates with public, vendors, and employees regarding accounts.
