Stout, a trusted advisory firm in Los Angeles, seeks an experienced accounting and reporting advisory professional to lead client engagements and drive technical research. You will prepare reconciliations, analyze complex contracts, and develop accounting memoranda aligned with US GAAP.

Qualifications

• Broad knowledge of US GAAP including purchase accounting, derivatives, complex debt and equity securities, stock-based compensation, revenue recognition, and lease accounting.
• Financial statement preparation.
• Experience interpreting complex accounting standards/treatment and documenting into practical terms.
• Deep experience with M&A transactions, especially post-acquisition integration.
• AICPA and PCAOB-level audit readiness.
• Experience presenting to the C-suite and executive level.
• Entrepreneurial and client-service focused.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Familiarity with accounting systems including QuickBooks, Xero, Bill.com, Expensify.
• Familiarity with or interest in using AI tools to enhance productivity and research.
• Relationship-focused approach to client work.

Responsibilities

• Partner with clients ranging from early stage to large publicly traded organizations in an industry-agnostic environment.
• Prepare and review account reconciliations and communication with client vendors.
• Review of complex contracts and the related technical accounting research.
• Preparation of accounting memoranda and policies.
• Determine appropriate journal entries and other operational accounting matters.
• Preparation of financial statements, footnotes, and disclosures.
• Research on SEC filing requirements and preparation of supporting schedules.
• Serve as post-acquisition integration SME including familiarity with standard IMO practices.
• Serve as a technical accounting SME for the firm's valuation practice, providing ad hoc research and support.
• Oversee day-to-day accounting operations for clients including AP/AR, payroll posting and journal entries.
• Involved in business development including client pursuits and proposals.
• Identify areas to scale efficiencies across multiple projects.
• Interact with ERP systems like NetSuite, Sage Intacct, SAP, Oracle.
• Leverage AI-enabled tools to enhance research and deliverables.
• Entrepreneurial self-starter, eager to grow service line within the firm.
