Group One in Union, New Jersey, is seeking a Senior Accountant to support a growing finance team and develop into a Controller role within about four years. This on-site, full-time position emphasizes AI-assisted workflows and a deliberate succession plan for the Controller function.

You will lead multi-entity closings, enhance reconciliations, and collaborate with the CFO as the team evolves around Claude AI-driven processes.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in accounting required.
At least two years multi-entity monthly close experience.
Demonstrated reconciliation discipline with supporting workpapers.
Experience with cloud general ledgers and Excel scripting/skills.
Willingness to adopt AI tools as part of daily work.

Responsibilities

Prepare monthly close for multiple entities and deliver P&L and balance sheet packages.
Maintain reconciliations with owners and dates for open items.
Prepare reconciliations tied to third-party documents (bank, loans, taxes).
Prepare intercompany eliminations and monthly reconciliation.
Own multi-state sales tax calendar and returns with external partner.
Maintain fixed asset register and insurance allocations.
Support lender borrowing base, covenants, and audit workpapers.
Develop AI-assisted workflows in Claude and document procedures.
Back up daily bank posting and reconciliation.
