Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
• Professional qualification (CA(SA), ACCA, CIMA) is highly desirable.
• Minimum 5 years accounting experience, multinational/tech focus preferred.
• Strong IFRS knowledge and ERP/financial reporting experience.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day accounting operations including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll processing.
• Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements under IFRS.
• Maintain the general ledger and ensure accurate journal entries.
• Reconcile bank statements and intercompany accounts.
• Assist with tax returns and ensure compliance with regulations.
• Support internal and external audits with documentation and explanations.

About the Role

Our client, a rapidly expanding international fintech company, is seeking a highly experienced Senior Accountant to join their remote finance team. This is a fully remote position, offering the flexibility to work from anywhere within South Africa. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in managing and overseeing the company's accounting operations, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial records. You will be responsible for a wide range of accounting functions, including financial statement preparation, general ledger management, and compliance. This role requires a self-starter with excellent accounting expertise and the ability to thrive in a virtual work environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll processing.
• Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with IFRS.
• Maintain the general ledger, ensuring accuracy and completeness of all journal entries.
• Reconcile bank statements, intercompany accounts, and other balance sheet accounts.
• Assist with the preparation of tax returns and ensure compliance with all tax regulations.
• Support internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations.
• Develop and implement accounting policies and procedures to improve efficiency and internal controls.
• Analyze financial data and provide insights to support business decision-making.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
• A professional accounting qualification (e.g., CA(SA), ACCA, CIMA) is highly desirable.
• Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a multinational or technology-focused company.
• Strong knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
• Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Xero, Sage Intacct, NetSuite) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Experience with ERP systems and financial reporting tools.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Strong understanding of internal controls and audit processes.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, essential for a remote role.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet tight deadlines.
