Job summary

Rootbound Partners is seeking an experienced accounting professional to join a PE-backed client in the Portland area. You will own the monthly close for multiple entities and tackle complex technical accounting such as leases and revenue recognition.

The role offers exposure to senior leadership, opportunities to streamline processes, and involvement in ERP upgrades, audits, and scalable accounting practices.

Qualifications

• 4–8+ years of accounting with a strong technical accounting foundation.
• Experience with month-end close, journal entries, and reconciliations.
• Proficiency in Excel-heavy environments and manual processes.
• Ability to operate in a growing, evolving environment.
• CPA or CPA candidate preferred, but not required.
• Background in manufacturing or distribution is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Own and support the month-end close, including journal entries and reconciliations.
• Manage accounting across multiple entities with varying complexity.
• Handle technical accounting areas, including lease accounting and revenue recognition.
• Identify misclassifications and inconsistencies in financial data.
• Partner cross-functionally with operations and leadership for accuracy.
• Operate in an Excel-heavy environment and help improve processes.
• Support ERP implementation and system improvements.
• Assist in building and formalizing accounting processes as the company scales.
• Contribute to audit preparation, financial reporting, and infrastructure development.
