We are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to oversee outsourced accounting services for clients in the architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) industries. In this role, you will manage full-cycle accounting activities, lead month-end close processes, and ensure the delivery of accurate, timely financial statements. You will serve as a trusted advisor to clients, resolving complex accounting challenges and recommending practical solutions that improve financial operations. You will also contribute to client onboarding, strengthen long-term relationships, and identify opportunities to expand service offerings. Beyond your technical responsibilities, you will mentor junior accounting professionals and coordinate multiple client engagements with minimal supervision. This fully remote opportunity offers a collaborative environment where you can apply your expertise, support business growth, and advance your career in outsourced accounting.

Accountabilities
  • Client Accounting and Financial Reporting: Manage full-cycle accounting activities for assigned clients, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger management, bank and credit card reconciliations, fixed assets, and loan accounting. Lead month-end close processes and prepare or oversee the preparation of accurate monthly financial statements.
  • Financial Analysis and Compliance: Review balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other financial reports to identify discrepancies, inconsistencies, and opportunities for improvement. Apply Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and ensure financial records are accurate, reliable, and compliant with established accounting standards.
  • Problem-Solving and Process Improvement: Investigate financial discrepancies, identify root causes, document findings, and recommend effective solutions. Address accounting challenges independently when possible and elevate complex issues as required.
  • Client Onboarding and Relationship Management: Support new client onboarding by establishing effective accounting workflows, defining expectations, and building productive working relationships. Maintain trusted client partnerships through responsive communication, dependable reporting, and consistent service delivery.
  • Business Development Support: Identify opportunities to expand services for existing clients and communicate potential cross‑selling opportunities to the appropriate internal stakeholders. Participate in networking activities and industry events that contribute to practice growth.
  • Team Leadership and Mentoring: Independently manage client accounting projects while maintaining high standards of quality, accuracy, and timeliness. Train, mentor, and support junior accounting professionals, sharing technical knowledge and encouraging strong client service practices.
  • Engagement and Workflow Management: Coordinate multiple client engagements, prioritize competing deadlines, and ensure deliverables meet engagement expectations. Maintain accurate timekeeping, updated assignment calendars, and established billable‑hour targets.
  • Operational Excellence and Security: Follow internal technology best practices, information security protocols, and operating procedures. Collaborate effectively with client personnel and internal colleagues to ensure consistent execution and continuous improvement across accounting engagements.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's or master's degree in Accounting.
  • Accounting Experience: Three to five years of accounting experience at the staff accountant level or above, with comprehensive knowledge of the full accounting cycle, from transaction processing through financial statement preparation.
  • Financial Reporting Expertise: Demonstrated experience reviewing balance sheets, income statements, and financial reports, identifying inconsistencies, and ensuring accurate reporting.
  • GAAP Knowledge: Strong understanding and practical application of GAAP accounting standards, general ledger activities, and month‑end closing procedures.
  • Full‑Cycle Accounting Skills: Experience performing and overseeing accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank and credit card reconciliations, fixed asset accounting, and loan accounting.
  • Analytical and Problem‑Solving Abilities: Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to investigate discrepancies, identify root causes, and develop practical solutions.
  • Project and Client Management: Ability to manage multiple client engagements independently, maintain organized workflows, meet deadlines, and deliver high‑quality work with minimal supervision.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build strong client relationships, collaborate across teams, and explain accounting issues clearly.
  • Leadership and Development: Ability to train, mentor, and support junior team members while contributing to a collaborative and service‑oriented work environment.
  • Preferred Industry Experience: Experience in outsourced accounting, public accounting, or a Big Four audit or consulting environment is advantageous.
  • Preferred AEC and Project Accounting Knowledge: Familiarity with architecture, engineering, construction, or other project‑based industries, including project accounting and revenue recognition.
