AAFCPAs is seeking an Experienced Staff Accountant for our Outsourced Accounting & Fractional CFO team. The role provides hands-on experience across AP, AR, Payroll, reconciliations, and financial reporting for a diverse client portfolio, including nonprofit and for-profit organizations.

You will rotate through practices to learn all aspects and contribute to client service excellence. AAFCPAs supports growth, remote work, and a collaborative culture.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or equivalent training required.
  • 1–3 years of experience in accounting preferably in public accounting.
  • Previous payroll, payables, receivables and reconciliation experience desired.
  • Strong technology skills using Microsoft Office 2007 or later (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
  • Experience with accounting systems, QuickBooks (desktop and online versions) and Intacct preferred.

Responsibilities

Outsourced Accounting & Fractional CFO (OAFC) Department

AAFCPAs provides right-sized, outsourced accounting & advisory solutions, from basic bookkeeping & compliance to advanced CFO advisory, analysis, and management reporting for a robust portfolio of commercial and not for profit clients. We provide full or partial finance function outsourcing or specialized resource enhancements and provide our clients the ability to scale up or down as needed. This accounting support may stand alone but typically complements our tax compliance and advisory services.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Experienced Staff Accountantis responsible for providing Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable processing, Payroll processing, accounting review and reconciliation and reporting support to the team and multiple Clients. This position is responsible for learning all aspects of the practice through rotational assignments and provides support as required and includes servicing non-profit or for profit organizations .

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Effectively complete rotational assignments in each area of the Managed Accounting Solutions Practice, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll, Reconciliation, Compliance and Financial Reporting.
  • Working with Accounting Manager, develop a plan and measurable goals for each rotational assignment, ensuring a thorough understanding and ability to deliver effective results in each segment.
  • Highlights may include:

Accounts Payable:

  • Code invoices to appropriate GL account
  • Process Client vendor invoices receivedfor payment
  • Download andcode creditcard transactions
  • Review and reconcile vendor invoice and A/P ledgers monthly. Identify and track down missing items and address discrepancies.
  • Prepare new vendor setup for accounts and files based on Client needs and systems
  • Learn and master Practice tools, such as Bill.com

Accounts Receivable:

  • Post customer payments timely and accurately in multiple Client accounting systems (recommended that this function and the above are assigned to different staff members when possible)
  • Prepares Client Invoices for their customers
  • Download and enter revenues from 3rd party applications orbanks into accounting system
  • Conducts reviews and monitors open receivables

Payroll:

  • Reconcile payroll prior to transmission and validate confirmed reports.
  • Process multiple Clients’ payroll weekly, biweekly or semi-monthly as required by Client. Manage set up and processing of all payroll deductions including benefits, tax and wage garnishment obligations. Manage workflow to ensure all payroll transactions are processed accurately and timely.
  • Set up and maintain accurate employee records using the Client’s system or payroll vendor. Maintain online or paper file system according to Client needs.
  • Download payroll transactions ifprocessedby3rdparty vendor for tracking and reporting.
  • Prepare required periodic and year-end reporting to state and federal agencies on behalf of Clients.
  • Ensure accurate and timely year-end reporting of W-2s to employees
  • Learn and master Practice tools, such as ADP RUN and ADP WorkforceNOW systems.
  • Prepare monthly financial statements and reports for clients and Boards of Directors as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or equivalent training required.
  • 1-3 years of experience in accounting preferably in public accounting
  • Previous payroll, payables, receivables and reconciliation experience desired
  • Strongtechnology skills using Microsoft Office 2007 or later (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook ata minimum, more applications preferred)
  • Experience with accounting systems, QuickBooks(desktop and online versions) and Intacct preferred

The salary range for this position reflects a broad set of factors considered in compensation decisions, including—but not limited to—skills, experience, training, certifications, and overall business needs. The stated range has not been adjusted for geographic differentials that may apply based on the position’s location. At AAFCPAs, it is uncommon for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range, as compensation decisions are based on each candidate’s specific background and circumstances. A reasonable estimate of the current salary range for this role is $75,000 – $ 85,000 per yearnot inclusive of bonus potential.

*Please note that while this position is remote, occasional travel to client locations, corporate meetings and trainings may be required to facilitate effective collaboration and engagement implementation .
