Job summary

Allianz Commercial seeks a Senior Accountant II in Chicago for a hybrid role focused on IFRS/GAAP reporting, intercompany reconciliations and monthly closes. You will work with auditors, tax authorities and internal clients on diverse accounting tasks and process improvements.

The role requires 5–7 years in reinsurance/insurance or asset management, strong Excel/PowerPoint skills, and knowledge of local GAAP and IFRS. A CPA/ACCA is preferred. US sponsorship is not offered.

Qualifications

• 5-7 years experience in reinsurance, P&C insurance and/or asset management.
• 5-7 years experience in GAAP and IFRS for insurance and reinsurance.
• 3-5 years experience in international project and team work.
• Advanced Excel and PowerPoint; data analysis; big data automation (Alteryx, AI, SAP Analytics Cloud).
• Understanding insurance financial statements and performance drivers.
• Knowledge of local GAAP, IAS/IFRS, regulatory/tax requirements incl. Allianz policies.
• AI literacy: using Copilot/ChatGPT etc.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business.
• CPA/ACCA or equivalent professional qualification.
• Experience applying AI/ML to improve processes.

Responsibilities

• Document policies, procedures and workflow for assigned areas; archive records for audits and statutory purposes.
• Draft standards to improve quality and contribute to global operation cycles and policies.
• Ensure IFRS, GAAP, and statutory closing/reporting are accurate and timely globally.
• Complete postings, journal entries and account reconciliations; reconcile intercompany transactions.
• Coordinate data from interfaces of front-end systems and monthly close activities.
• Manage relationships with auditors, tax authorities, business units and external parties.
• Assist internal clients with reports and analyses; identify improvement opportunities.
