Job summary

Munich Re Group is seeking a Senior Accountant - General Accounting in New York, NY to manage monthly, quarterly, and annual close cycles, including journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting schedules under IFRS and statutory requirements.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to investigate variances, support audits, and strengthen controls while improving accounting processes leveraging data analytics tools like Alteryx and Power BI.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of accounting experience with journal entries and reconciliations.
• CPA required.
• Experience with IFRS and Insurance statutory accounting is a plus.
• Public accounting experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Own monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities with journal entries and reconciliations.
• Perform and coordinate bank reconciliations, validate cash activity and timing differences.
• Monitor payroll suspense, coordinate resolutions with Treasury and Payroll.
• Prepare reclassifications for payroll taxes and other suspense balances.
• Handle lease and sublease accounting activities and related reconciliations.
• Prepare quarterly pension expense entries and supporting schedules.
• Support other asset, intercompany, and reporting activities as needed.
• Prepare and support regulatory and statutory reporting deliverables.
