Job summary

Munich Re US is seeking a Senior Accountant – General Accounting to lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, and reporting under IFRS and statutory standards. You will partner with Treasury, Payroll, and business owners to ensure accuracy and timely disclosures.

The role also supports audits and disclosures, strengthens controls, and drives process improvements using data analytics tools such as Alteryx and Power BI.

Qualifications

• CPA required and active license.
• Experience with cash accounting, bank reconciliations, suspense or clearing accounts, and period-end close.
• Experience with lease, pension, payroll, fixed assets, intercompany, or financial reporting activities preferred.
• IFRS and Insurance Statutory accounting experience is a plus; ability to research and apply accounting guidance.
• Advanced proficiency in Excel; ability to analyze large account activity.
• Experience with Alteryx and Power BI preferred.

Responsibilities

• Own monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities; prepare journals, reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
• Coordinate bank reconciliations and cash activity validation; investigate timing differences.
• Monitor cash and payroll suspense; coordinate resolution with Treasury, Payroll, and other partners.
• Prepare reclassifications for payroll taxes and related balances; maintain supporting documentation.
• Perform lease and sublease accounting entries and reconciliations; support financial reporting.
• Prepare pension expense entries and related schedules; review actuarial information and footnotes.
• Handle fixed assets, intercompany items, and other reporting activities as assigned.
• Prepare and support statutory, tax, and other reporting deliverables with accuracy and timeliness.
• Maintain internal controls and support audits; identify process improvements using data analytics and technology.
