Job summary

The Parking Spot is seeking a full-time Senior Accountant in Chicago with 2–3 years of public accounting background. The role reports to the Senior Accounting Manager and offers ownership potential and visibility within the accounting function.

The ideal candidate is proactive, detail-oriented, and ready to transition from public accounting processes to owning them in-house, with opportunities to expand responsibilities over time.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance required.
• 2–3 years of accounting experience; Big 4/National firm a plus.
• CPA designation or pursuing CPA is expected.
• Exceptional Excel skills and attention to detail.
• Strong analytical and communication abilities essential.
• Experience with financial reporting systems and GAAP.
• Ability to mentor junior staff and work collaboratively.

Responsibilities

• Own the monthly close process end-to-end with accuracy.
• Research GAAP issues and recommend treatment.
• Develop and implement process improvements in accounting.
• Review junior staff work and provide mentorship.
• Serve as escalation point for complex questions.
• Ensure fixed assets capitalization compliance with GAAP.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
