Job summary

The Parking Spot is seeking a full-time Senior Accountant with 2-3 years of experience, ideally from public accounting. This role reports to the Senior Accounting Manager and offers ownership and visibility within the accounting function, with opportunities to grow the team.

The ideal candidate will own the close process, handle journal entries, and work with other departments to strengthen controls in a dynamic, hybrid work environment in downtown Chicago.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance.
  • 2–3 years of experience; Big 4/National accounting firm experience a plus.
  • CPA designation or working toward CPA.
  • Exceptional Excel skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience with financial reporting systems.
  • Ability to deliver results in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Own the monthly close process end-to-end from journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and account analysis.
  • Research technical GAAP issues as they arise and recommend treatment.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of process improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and internal controls.
  • Review the work of junior accounting staff, provide mentorship, and help develop their technical skills.
  • Serve as a point of escalation for complex or unusual accounting questions from the broader team.
  • Partner with other departments to ensure fixed assets are properly capitalized in compliance with GAAP.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Salary Range:

$95000 per year - $105000 per year

Position Summary:

The Parking Spot is seeking a full-time Senior Accountant with 2-3 years of experience, ideally from public accounting. This position reports to the Senior Accounting Manager and offers significant ownership and visibility within the accounting function, with the opportunity to take on increasing responsibility and grow within the team over time.The ideal candidate is a proactive, detail-oriented problem solver who enjoys identifying solutions, navigating challenges, and collaborating with others to achieve successful outcomes.This role is well suited for someone ready to transition from executing established processes in public accounting to owning and shaping them in an in-house setting.

Key Responsibilities:

Knowledge, Skills & Experience Required:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance
  • 2-3 years of experience (Big 4/National accounting firm experience a plus)

  • Detail oriented and focused on accuracy, with the ability to think strategically and analytically
  • Experienced with financial reporting systems
