Job summary

Summerset Marine Construction is seeking an experienced finance professional to oversee daily financial operations, ensure GAAP-compliant reporting, and strengthen internal controls. You will manage budgeting, forecasting, accounts payable/receivable, and general ledger activities while supporting audits and tax compliance.

Cross-functional collaboration with leaders will guide strategic financial decisions.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as an accountant, with a minimum of 2 years in a senior accounting role.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and tax regulations.
• Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Financial Reporting: Prepare and analyze financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements. Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting in compliance with GAAP.
• Budgeting and Forecasting: Assist in the development and management of the company's annual budget and financial forecasts. Monitor budget performance and provide recommendations for cost optimization.
• Financial Analysis: Conduct financial analysis to support decision-making, including variance analysis, cost control, and profitability assessments. Identify trends, potential risks, and opportunities for improvement.
• Accounts Payable and Receivable: Oversee the accounts payable and accounts receivable functions. Ensure timely processing of vendor payments and monitor customer collections.
• General Ledger Management: Maintain the general ledger, reconciling accounts, and resolving discrepancies. Perform month-end and year-end closing procedures.
• Tax Compliance: Prepare and submit accurate and timely tax returns, ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and local tax regulations. Stay up-to-date with tax law changes and advise on tax planning strategies.
• Audit Support: Assist in the coordination of financial audits by external auditors. Prepare audit schedules and respond to auditor inquiries.
• Financial Systems: Manage and optimize financial systems and accounting software, ensuring data accuracy and efficient workflow.
• Financial Policy and Procedure Development: Develop, implement, and enforce financial policies and procedures to ensure internal controls and compliance.
• Team Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including project managers, procurement, and senior management, to provide financial insights and support decision-making.
