Job summary

BenchPrep is seeking a Staff/Senior Accountant to join our remote finance team reporting to the Controller. You’ll maintain accurate financial records, prepare reports, analyze data, and ensure regulatory compliance across budgeting, audits, and close processes.

The ideal candidate has a strong accounting background, experience with GAAP and revenue recognition, and excellent communication skills for cross‑functional collaboration. Public accounting exposure is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting; CPA preferred.
• 3–5 years (Staff Accountant) or 5–8 years (Sr Accountant) in accounting or auditing; public accounting experience preferred.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to communicate financial information clearly.
• Thorough knowledge of financial statement preparation, GAAP, and revenue recognition.

Responsibilities

• Manage accounting function including reconciliations, journal entries, AR, AP, and Billing.
• Analyze expenditures and allocate expenses to departments; report to departments.
• Ensure transactions align with GAAP and company policies.
• Review transactions for proper revenue recognition,
• Post monthly, quarterly, and yearly accruals in the general ledger.
• Assist in building financial statements: balance sheet, income statement, and cash flow.
• Prepare year-end schedules for annual tax returns and assist budgeting.
