Job summary

Disabled American Veterans seeks a Senior Accountant at National Headquarters to manage daily accounting, prepare financial statements, and ensure accurate ledgers across multiple entities. You will handle requisitions, tax compliance, payroll reconciliations, and internal controls while supporting audits and project accounting.

The role requires strong Excel skills, GAAP knowledge, and 5+ years of accounting experience; a Bachelor’s in accounting is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily accounting activity and monitor financial processes.
• Record entries, perform calculations, maintain analyses for statements.
• Prepare accurate financial statements for assigned entities.
• Enter requisitions in Procurement system as assigned.
• Oversee and maintain proper accounting for relocation program.
• Own tax and regulatory accounting (UBIT, Sales/Use Tax, tax-exempt).
• Coordinate with payroll provider for reporting and reconciliation.
• Analyze internal controls and perform reconciliations.
• Post transactions to project modules and review project accuracy.
• Maintain payroll allocation reconciliations and GL accounts.
• Prepare journal entries and related analyses with documentation.
• Maintain system setup for assigned modules and perform audits.
• Assist in physical inventory counts and testing with auditors.
• Prepare accruals and record State Service Payout and distributions.
• Process voids, reissues, and stop payments in ERP system.
• Review financial statements and audit reports for accuracy.
• Ensure Form 990 consistency with reports and sources.
• Update financial charts/graphs and file basic tax reports.
• Prepare Charitable Gift Annuity annual reports as needed.
• Maintain documentation and participate in ad hoc projects.
