Job summary

Vaco Recruiter Services is seeking a Senior Accountant to join the growing accounting team in Clearwater, Florida. The role focuses on maintaining accurate financial records, supporting general accounting operations, and coordinating close processes, with exposure to leadership and opportunities to impact the accounting function.

Key duties include preparing financial statements, managing GL activities, fixed asset and lease accounting, and supporting external audits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting.
• Experience with month-end and year-end close processes.
• Fixed asset accounting experience.
• Lease accounting experience.
• Strong account reconciliation and general ledger experience.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs, and XLOOKUPs.
• Experience with ERP systems such as Oracle, SAP, Dynamics, or similar platforms.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Manage general ledger activities and account reconciliations during month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close.
• Prepare journal entries, accruals, and supporting schedules.
• Research and resolve account discrepancies.
• Analyze financial results and provide variance explanations.
• Manage fixed asset accounting, including capital projects, depreciation, transfers, and disposals.
• Maintain lease accounting records and ensure proper accounting treatment.
• Support external audit requests and coordinate audit deliverables.
• Research technical accounting matters and prepare accounting documentation.
• Assist with process improvement and automation initiatives.
• Partner with department leaders to provide financial guidance and reporting support.
