Charles Joy Executive Search and Staffing is seeking a Senior Accountant to support the Controller and project managers. The role involves WIP, project cost, budgeting, forecasting, monthly close, GL reconciliation, AP and AR, with a strong Excel focus.

Qualifications include a Bachelor's in Accounting/Finance and at least 4 years of construction accounting experience. On-site presence in the Twin Cities is required.

Qualifications

• Construction industry accounting experience required.
• Expertise in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables and VLOOKUPs.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Robust journal entry, general ledger and monthly close experience.
• Ability to interview and work on-site in the Twin Cities (West metro).

Responsibilities

• AP, AR, work-in-progress and project accounting.
• Monthly Close / Reporting: reconcile ledgers and prepare monthly statements.
• Oversee and manage Profit and Loss, including budgeting, forecasting and reforecasting.
• Journal entries and general ledger functions for timely processing.
• Budgeting & Forecasting: develop and monitor budgets, forecasts, plans.
• Continuous Process Improvement: implement efficiency improvements.

Job description

Our client is seeking a talented Senior Accountant to join our team on a full-time basis. This role supports the Controller and project managers with a variety of accounting tasks, including WIP, project cost, budgeting, forecasting, monthly close, GL reconciliation, AP and AR.

The Senior Accountant must possess attention to detail and a strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel.

Key Responsibilities:

• AP, AR, work-in-progress and project accounting
• Monthly Close / Reporting: Ensure general ledgers are reconciled accurately and monthly reporting completed in a timely manner. Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with policies.
• Oversee and manage Profit and Loss statements, including budget preparation, forecasting and reforecasting as appropriate. Complete variance analysis, and profitability assessments.
• Accounts Management: Regular journal entries creation and review. General ledger functions to ensure timely and accurate processing.
• Budgeting & Forecasting: Communicate with the Controller and Project Managers to develop and monitor budgets, forecasts, and financial plans for ongoing and upcoming projects.
• Continuous Process Improvement: Discover, communicate and implement process improvements as needed to enhance efficiencies.

Qualifications:

• A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or a related business field.
• Minimum of 4 years of related accounting experience, preferably within the construction industry.
• Construction industry accounting experience required.
• Expertise in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables and VLookups.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Robust journal entry, general ledger and monthly close experience are essential.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to interview and work on-site in the Twin Cities. (West metro)
