Job summary

The Senior Accountant at Southeast Bank will oversee complex general ledger activity, reconcile balances, and support month-end and year-end close processes. You will prepare accurate financial statements and regulatory reports, including Call Reports, while maintaining strong internal controls and coordinating with auditors.

The role requires 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, GAAP knowledge, and advanced Excel skills.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including general ledger, reconciliations, and month-end close.
• Working knowledge of GAAP and internal control practices.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software.
• Preferred: CPA or progress toward CPA certification.
• Preferred: Experience with regulatory reporting such as Call Reports.
• Preferred: Experience supporting internal and external audits.

Responsibilities

• Balance teller, cash item, suspense, and related accounts; research and resolve outstanding items.
• Perform daily balancing of deposit and loan general ledger activity and correct discrepancies.
• Order, maintain, and reconcile cash movements between the Federal Reserve and branches.
• Reconcile and review official checks and exception logs.
• Prepare Tennessee reports, including sales tax, collateral pool, and escheatment reports.
• Assist with annual audit report preparation and footnotes; coordinate with auditors.
• Cross-train to provide backup for other accounting functions.
