Job summary

Southeast Bank is seeking a Senior Accountant at the Athens, TN location to support financial accounting and reporting functions, including general ledger, reconciliations, accruals, and month-end close. You will help prepare financial statements and regulatory reports, and assist with internal/external audits.

You will maintain internal controls, ensure compliance with bank policy and regulations, and support audits and examinations as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience including general ledger, reconciliations, and month-end close.
• Working knowledge of GAAP and internal controls.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software.
• CPA or progress toward CPA preferred.
• Experience with regulatory reporting such as Call Reports.
• Experience supporting internal and external audits.

Responsibilities

• Balance teller, cash item, suspense, and related accounts; research and resolve items.
• Daily balancing of deposit and loan general ledger activity; identify discrepancies.
• Reconcile and review official checks and exception logs.
• Produce and maintain Tennessee reports (sales tax, Collateral Pool, escheatment).
• Review AP for proper general ledger coding and payments.
• Assist with annual audit and footnotes; provide auditor support.
