Job summary

MGM Transformer LLC in Vernon, CA is seeking a Senior Accountant to perform advanced accounting activities, support month-end closes, and provide financial insights.

You will work closely with Finance leadership to maintain the general ledger, ensure GAAP compliance, and assist with audits, budgeting, and cost accounting as needed.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review monthly journal entries, reconciliations and financial statements.
• Lead components of month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.
• Maintain general ledger accounts and GAAP compliance.
• Manage and reconcile accruals, prepaids, fixed assets, leases, and inventory entries.
• Prepare balance sheet schedules and research variances or discrepancies.
• Support budgeting and forecasting with accurate financial data.
• Assist with payroll accounting, including journal entries and reconciliations.
• Coordinate with internal and external auditors and provide documentation.
• Ensure compliance with state and local sales/use tax filings.
• Maintain and improve accounting processes and internal controls.
• Assist with cost accounting functions (inventory, standard costing, variance analysis).
• Support cross-functional teams with financial analysis and reporting.

Job description

We are seeking a Senior Accountant who will be responsible for performing advanced accounting activities, supporting month-end closes, preparing financial reports, and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the organization's financial records. This role works closely with Finance leadership to improve processes, support audits, and provide financial insights. The Senior Accountant also serves as a resource for cross-functional departments.

This is an on-site position out of our Vernon, CA office.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and review monthly journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statements.

• Maintain general ledger accounts and ensure compliance with GAAP.

Requirements

Qualifications

Required

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 35 years of progressive accounting experience.
• Public accounting experience.
• Publicly traded company work experience.
• Strong understanding of GAAP and general ledger accounting.
• Experience with financial reporting and month-end close.
• Proficiency in Excel and accounting systems (Syteline experience preferred).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.

Preferred

• CPA or working toward CPA certification.
• Experience in manufacturing or cost accounting.
• Experience with fixed assets, inventory accounting, and multi-entity environments.
