Job summary

Amerit Consulting is seeking a senior accounting professional for a short-term, remote assignment focused on SEC reporting and coordination with external auditors.

The role requires a Bachelor's in Accounting, CPA preferred, 5+ years of progressive accounting experience (including hands-on preparation of Forms 10-Q and 10-K), strong GAAP/SEC knowledge, and advanced Excel. Experience with Workiva is a plus; you’ll report to senior finance leadership in a fast-paced public-company environment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review Forms 10-Q and 10-K with disclosures and schedules.
• Assist in annual proxy statement preparation with Legal and HR.
• Research disclosure questions and draft memos or analyses.
• Monitor SEC and FASB rulemaking and assess impact on filings.
• Coordinate with external auditors during quarterly reviews and annual audit.
• Collaborate with FP&A, Legal, IR, and other units to gather data for filings.
• Support SOX compliance and ensure controls are properly designed.
• Lead process improvements and consider AI/workiva tools to streamline filings.

JOB DESCRIPTION

This role requires a self-starter who can identify issues, research them independently, and drive them to resolution with minimal oversight. It carries direct exposure to senior finance leadership and our external auditors.

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting
• CPA preferred
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, with direct SEC reporting experience required, including hands‑on preparation of Forms 10-Q and 10-K, proxy statements and earnings releases
• Public accounting experience preferred
• Experience with Workiva preferred
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and SEC reporting requirements
• A genuine self-starter, comfortable identifying issues proactively, working through ambiguity, and driving matters to resolution with minimal oversight
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate complex accounting concepts clearly, in both writing and conversation, to audiences with varying levels of technical fluency
• Strong to advanced Excel skills
• Ability to manage multiple concurrent workstreams and shifting priorities in a fast‑paced, public company environment

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review the Company’s Forms 10-Q and 10-K, including financial statements, footnote disclosures, and supporting schedules, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP and SEC requirements
• Assist in the preparation of the annual proxy statement, coordinating input from Legal, HR, and other stakeholders
• Research disclosure questions as they arise, and draft supporting memos or analysis
• Monitor SEC and FASB rulemaking and disclosure trends, and help assess the impact of new requirements on the Company’s filings
• Coordinate with external auditors on quarterly reviews and the annual audit, including preparing support and responding to inquiries
• Partner with FP&A, Legal, Investor Relations, and other business unit teams to gather information needed for SEC filings and other external disclosures
• Support the Company’s SOX compliance efforts for areas of responsibility, ensuring controls are properly designed and consistently performed
• Identify and lead process improvements, including incorporating AI and reporting tools (e.g., Workiva) to streamline the filing process
