A growing, privately held Canadian company is seeking a motivated, hands-on Senior Accountant / Accounting Manager to take ownership of its day-to-day accounting operations and support the continued development of its financial reporting systems and processes.

Reporting directly to an experienced CFO, this position offers an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional who is working toward their CPA designation or looking to advance their career through broader financial accounting

Qualifications

• Minimum 3–5 years progressive accounting experience.
• Strong GL, reconciliations and financial statement prep.
• Experience with QuickBooks Online and Excel.
• Working knowledge of Canadian accounting practices, GST/HST and payroll.
• Strong analytical, organizational and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
• Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Manage the general ledger and monthly close process.
• Prepare monthly financial statements, journal entries and reconciliations.
• Complete monthly bank and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Maintain fixed asset, lease and financing schedules.
• Support project costing and profitability reporting.

About the Opportunity

A growing, privately held Canadian company is seeking a motivated, hands‑on Senior Accountant / Accounting Manager to take ownership of its day-to-day accounting operations and support the continued development of its financial reporting systems and processes.

Reporting directly to an experienced CFO, this position offers an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional who is working toward their CPA designation or looking to advance their career through broader financial accounting responsibilities.

The successful candidate will be comfortable working independently, managing the monthly accounting cycle and contributing ideas to improve efficiency, accuracy and financial controls.

This is a fully remote position, with preference given to candidates located in the Lower Mainland or Kamloops region of British Columbia.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Accounting & Reporting

• Manage the general ledger and monthly financial close process.
• Prepare monthly financial statements, journal entries, accruals and supporting schedules.
• Complete monthly bank and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Maintain fixed asset, lease and financing schedules.
• Support project costing and profitability reporting.
• Assist with year-end financial reporting and external accountant requirements.

Accounting Operations & Compliance

• Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable and payroll accounting.
• Monitor outstanding receivables and assist with collections.
• Prepare GST/HST returns and other applicable statutory filings.
• Ensure accounting transactions are accurately recorded, supported and approved.
• Maintain appropriate accounting records and internal controls.

Systems & Process Improvement

• Maintain and optimize accounting processes using QuickBooks Online.
• Identify opportunities to streamline workflows and automate repetitive tasks.
• Reduce manual data entry, duplicate processes and unnecessary spreadsheet dependency.
• Develop and maintain practical accounting procedures.
• Work collaboratively with the CFO and operations team to improve financial information and reporting.

Qualifications & Experience

Required

• Minimum 3–5 years of progressive accounting experience.
• Strong understanding of general ledger accounting, reconciliations and financial statement preparation.
• Experience with QuickBooks Online and Microsoft Excel.
• Working knowledge of Canadian accounting practices, GST/HST and payroll accounting.
• Strong analytical, organizational and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and consistently meet deadlines.
• Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.

Preferred

• Currently enrolled in the CPA Professional Education Program (CPA PEP), pursuing a CPA designation, or recently designated.
• Experience in transportation, logistics, construction, manufacturing or another asset-intensive industry.
• Familiarity with equipment financing, leases or project costing.
• Experience improving accounting processes or implementing technology solutions.
• Experience in a small or medium-sized business.
