Job summary

Maravai LifeSciences in San Diego, CA is seeking a Senior Accountant to independently manage month-end close, general ledger activities, and accurate financial reporting for assigned units.

You will apply U.S. GAAP, oversee prepaid/assets, liabilities, leases, and work with external auditors to strengthen internal controls. CPA preferred; public company experience valued; collaboration with Finance, Operations, Facilities and Tax teams is key.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline.
  • CPA certification is required.
  • Public company experience is required.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, general ledger accounting, financial reporting, account reconciliations, and internal controls.

Responsibilities

  • Independently manage month-end and year-end close activities including journal entries, account reconciliations, supporting schedules, and general ledger analysis.
  • Manage accounting for prepaid and other assets, accrued and other liabilities , facilities, leases, fixed assets, and related financial reporting activities while ensuring compliance with U.S. GAAP and company accounting policies.
  • Supervise completion of cash and intercompany accounting, including review of journal entries and reconciliations.
  • Analyze financial results, account activity, and balance sheet reconciliations while identifying and resolving accounting issues, unusual transactions, and reporting variances.
  • Prepare financial analyses, fluctuation reports, disclosures, and supporting schedules for internal reporting, SEC filings, and external financial statements.
  • Review accounting transactions, supporting documentation, and financial records to ensure completeness, accuracy, and compliance with internal controls and accounting standards.
  • Partner with Facilities, Operations, Procurement, Tax, and Finance teams to support capital projects, lease accounting, asset management, and business initiatives.
  • Support internal and external audits by preparing audit schedules, responding to auditor requests, and ensuring timely completion of audit requirements.
  • Use AI, automation and process simplification to identify and implement process improvements that strengthen financial reporting, accounting controls, operational efficiency, and compliance.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Your next role as a Miracle Maker

Maravai LifeSciences is seeking a #MiracleMaker to join our Accounting team as a Senior Accountant. The Senior Accountant independently manages general ledger accounting activities, supporting the timely financial close and accurate financial reporting for assigned business units. This role applies advanced accounting knowledge to manage accounting for prepaid and other assets, accrued and other liabilities, leases, facilities, and other general ledger activities while ensuring compliance with U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), SEC reporting requirements, and company accounting policies. This position will also supervise completion of other accounting areas, such as cash and intercompany accounting. The position partners with Finance, Operations, Facilities, and external auditors to strengthen financial reporting, internal controls, and operational effectiveness.

The skills and experience that you will bring
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline and 3+ years of progressive accounting, financial reporting, or general ledger experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • CPA certification is required
  • Public company experience is required.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, general ledger accounting, financial reporting, account reconciliations, and internal controls.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently analyze financial information, resolve accounting issues, interpret accounting guidance, and recommend appropriate accounting treatment.
  • Experience supporting month-end close, financial statement preparation, SEC reporting, external audits, and compliance activities.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet reporting deadlines.
  • Experience utilizing ERP systems, financial reporting tools, Microsoft Excel, and related accounting applications. NetSuite experience preferred.
  • Public accounting experience preferred.

The anticipated salary range for this position is $90,000 - $105,000. In addition, highly competitive long-term incentives in the form of company equity, bonus participation and company sponsored benefits are provided as part of the total compensation package. The salary offer will depend on multiple factors which may include the successful candidate's skills, experience and other qualifications, as well as the location of the role.
