Job summary

CFS is seeking a Senior Accountant to join our corporate accounting team in Pittsburgh. This role will manage general ledger, financial reporting, month-end close, and audit support.

The ideal candidate has GAAP knowledge, strong analytical skills, and experience with intercompany balances and SOX controls. CPA is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
• 3+ years progressive accounting experience; public accounting a plus.
• CPA certification or active pursuit preferred.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting processes.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review external financial statements and internal reports.
• Close monthly and perform journal entries for assigned accounts.
• Reconcile general ledger accounts and investigate variances.
• Assist with year-end external audits and supporting schedules.
• Prepare quarterly and annual financial reporting packages.
• Monitor new accounting standards and assess impact.
• Provide guidance and training to junior staff.
• Support SOX documentation, controls testing, and reporting.

SENIOR ACCOUNTANT

$80,000- $90,000

Our client is seeking a Senior Accountant to join their corporate accounting team in Pittsburgh. This role will be responsible for a variety of accounting, financial reporting, month-end close, technical accounting, and audit-related activities.

The ideal candidate will have strong general ledger and financial reporting experience, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to research and apply accounting guidance to complex transactions. Public accounting experience and a CPA are highly preferred.

Overview Of The Senior Accountant Role

• Support the preparation and review of external financial statements and internal management reports
• Prepare and analyze financial information to support business and management decisions
• Research, analyze, and document technical accounting matters and financial statement disclosures
• Monitor and evaluate new accounting standards and assess their impact on the organization
• Prepare and record accurate journal entries for assigned accounts and transactions
• Reconcile assigned general ledger accounts and investigate variances or discrepancies
• Review and maintain intercompany balances and ensure accounts are properly reconciled
• Assist with quarterly and year-end external audit requests and supporting schedules
• Support the preparation of quarterly and year-end financial reporting packages
• Maintain and update accounting policies in response to new accounting guidance and business developments
• Participate in SOX compliance activities, including documentation, control testing, and reporting
• Perform financial analysis and special projects to support management decision-making
• Provide accounting guidance, training, and support to Senior and Staff Accountants
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve accounting and reporting issues
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, controls, and reporting
• Perform other accounting and finance duties as assigned

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• 3+ years of progressive accounting experience; public accounting experience strongly preferred
• CPA certification or active pursuit of CPA preferred
• Strong understanding of GAAP and accounting principles
• Experience with general ledger accounting, account reconciliations, and financial statement preparation
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and research skills
