Job summary

Addison Group is partnering with a private company in Oakbrook Terrace, IL to hire an experienced Senior Accountant. The role focuses on month-end close, financial reporting, and owning core accounting processes to support leadership and the company’s growth.

The Senior Accountant will manage GL activities, journal entries, reconciliations, audit support, and financial analyses to drive informed decisions. Strong GAAP knowledge and Excel/ERP proficiency are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• Strong GAAP knowledge and full-cycle accounting.
• Experience with month-end close and general ledgers.
• Advanced Excel skills and proficiency with ERP systems.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to prioritize deadlines and work independently.
• Clear, professional communication skills.
• Hands-on, proactive approach and willingness to take ownership.
• Ability to travel, if needed for business purposes (>10%).
• CPA or CPA-track experience is a plus, but not required.

Responsibilities

• Manage general ledger accounting activities, ensuring transactions are recorded accurately, timely, and in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
• Prepare journal entries, accruals, prepaids, and intercompany transactions as part of the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.
• Prepare and maintain account reconciliations, investigating and resolving discrepancies in a timely manner.
• Prepare audit schedules and support documentation and assist with internal and external audit requests.
• Prepare monthly account analyses and support schedules for financial reporting.
• Support working capital management through accurate accounting and timely reconciliation of cash, receivables, and other balance sheet accounts.
• Serve as the subject matter expert for fixed asset accounting, ensuring compliance with company policies and U.S. GAAP
• Acts as the primary owner for assigned accounting processes and balance sheet accounts, exercising independent judgment to identify issues, resolve discrepancies, and implement process improvements

The Senior Accountant will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, managing month-end close activities, preparing financial reports, and supporting management with meaningful financial analysis.

What You’ll Do

What We’re Looking For
