Job summary

Ohel is seeking a detail-oriented Senior Accountant to support strategic decision making and ensure compliance with nonprofit financial requirements.

This full-time, on-site role in Far Rockaway tracks grant expenditures, prepares expenditure reports, and performs month-end and year-end closes. You will provide financial analysis to program leadership to support Ohel’s mission.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required.
• 2+ years working experience in accounting, preferably in a nonprofit setting.
• Advanced Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel.
• Working knowledge of accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, ERP systems).
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, non-profit tax rules, and compliance requirements.

• Track and report on grant and contract expenditures, ensuring adherence to funder requirements
• Prepare expenditure reports and monitor grant reporting deadlines
• Perform month-end and year-end close activities, reconciliations, and journal entries
• Provide financial analysis and insights to program leadership
