AM Digital Designs, based in Lawrence, MA, seeks a Senior Accountant to own the books, ensure compliance, and support scalable growth. This contract, hybrid role focuses on cash flow, contractor payouts, and studio budgeting.

You will handle invoicing, AR/AP, payroll for W2 and 1099 contractors, and deliver monthly financial reports to the founders. Proficiency in QuickBooks Online, Xero, and advanced Excel is required.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of accounting or full-charge bookkeeping experience, ideally in a creative agency or small business.
• High proficiency in QuickBooks Online, Xero or similar cloud accounting software; advanced Excel/Google Sheets skills.
• Strong understanding of Massachusetts payroll laws and contractor misclassification rules.

Responsibilities

About the Role

A creative agency only thrives when its financial foundation is rock solid. As our client base scales and our team expands, tracking cash flow, managing contractor payouts, and projecting studio budgets becomes a mission-critical operation. We are seeking a detail-oriented Senior Accountant to take ownership of our books and ensure our operations remain financially sound and legally compliant.

Here’s what you’ll do day-to-day:

• Invoicing & AR/AP: Generate and track client invoices, gracefully follow up on outstanding payments, and manage accounts payable for all studio software and operational expenses.


• Payroll Processing: Manage accurate, semi-monthly payroll runs for W2 employees and track complex commission/hourly payouts for 1099 contractors and Brand Ambassadors.


• Financial Reporting: Reconcile bank and credit card statements, and provide the founders with clear monthly P&L statements, balance sheets, and runway/cash flow projections.


• Tax Compliance: Prepare year-end documentation, manage 1099 issuances, and coordinate seamlessly with our external CPA for state and federal tax filings.

Here’s what we’re looking for:

• 5+ years of accounting or full-charge bookkeeping experience, ideally within a creative agency, tech startup, consultancy, or small business environment.


• Expert proficiency in QuickBooks Online, Xero, or similar cloud accounting software, alongside advanced Excel/Google Sheets skills.


• Deep, up-to-date understanding of Massachusetts payroll laws and contractor misclassification rules.


• High ethical standards, meticulous attention to detail, and a proactive approach to finding cost-saving efficiencies.

Bonus points if you have:

• CPA or CMA certification.


• Bilingual (English/Spanish) skills for seamless internal team communication.

Contract rate of $55–$75/hr based on experience, for an estimated 10-15 hours per week. Flexible schedule and remote options available.
