Job summary

CalPortland is seeking a Senior Accountant in Las Vegas to support mid-level accounting duties, including month-end close and long-term projects. The role focuses on GAAP reporting, financial analysis, and collaboration with stakeholders across departments.

The ideal candidate will hold a B.A. in Accounting, be proficient in Excel, possess strong analytical and communication skills, and be willing to work extended hours as needed to meet deadlines. Experience with SAP is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field with accounting experience.
• Knowledge of GAAP financial reporting.
• Strong communication skills, and proficiency in Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
• Excellent organizational and analytical abilities; self-starter and team player.
• Ability to research accounting guidance, evaluate transactions and document conclusions.
• Willingness to work extended hours, including weekends, to meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Prepare recurring monthly, quarterly, and year-end journal entries.
• Reconcile general ledger accounts, investigate discrepancies, and ensure timely resolution of outstanding items.
• Coordinate support and prepare necessary manual JEs on behalf of corporate departments.
• Complete assigned duties according to the month-end close schedule.
• Prepare and maintain amortization schedules.
• Prepare annual budgets for assigned corporate-designated operating expenses.
• Prepare Ad hoc reports and analyses for management and operations.
• Prepare audit schedules and respond to requests from external auditors during audits.
• Ensure compliance with JSOX controls.

Responsibilities

Duties may include:

• Prepare ADHOC reports and analysis for managment and operations
• Prepare audit schedules and complete requests from external auditors during quarterly and year-end audits
• Properly execute controls to ensure compliance with JSOX
• Demonstrate leadership and provide support as needed to members of the accounting team
• Assist with management reporting, financail analysis, and the preparation of schedules supporting financal statements

Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related degree with experience in accounting

Requirements/Qualifications

• Knowledge of GAAP financial reporting

• Self-starter and strong work ethic
• Demonstrated technical accounting skills, including the ability to research accounting guidance, evaluate trasactions, and document conclusions.

• Available to work extended hours and potentionally weekends as needed to meet month-end or audit deadlines

Preferred

• Experience in the construction materials industry
• Experience with SAP
