Rhythm is an Australian-born alternative surf and lifestyle apparel brand focused on premium product and authentic coastal culture. Our U.S. operations continue to grow, and we’re looking for a hands‑on Accountant to join our team in Irvine, California.

This role will support day‑to‑day accounting operations across wholesale and eCommerce channels, while also contributing to month‑end close, reporting, and broader accounting initiatives. The position blends transactional responsibilities with opportunities to grow into more analytical and operational accounting work as the business scales.

The Role

The Accountant will own core AP and AR functions while supporting broader accounting processes across general ledger, wholesale and eCommerce operations, and financial reporting. This role is ideal for someone with strong accounting fundamentals who enjoys detail‑oriented work and taking on expanding responsibility.

Key Responsibilities
Accounts Payable, Receivables & Inventory Accounting
  • Process vendor invoices, employee reimbursements, and payments accurately and timely
  • Enter and apply customer payments across wholesale and eCommerce channels
  • Investigate and resolve billing discrepancies and customer payment issues
  • Maintain AP and AR aging schedules and support cash flow visibility
  • Reconcile eCommerce sales, refunds, fees, and chargebacks from online sales platforms (e.g., Shopify)
  • Assist with payment processor and clearing account reconciliations
  • Support inventory and order management accounting through Cin7, including sales synchronization between Cin7, Shopify, and Xero
  • Help reconcile Cin7 clearing accounts related to sales, inventory movements, and fulfillment
Banking, Credit Cards & Reconciliations
  • Clear and reconcile daily bank feeds and transactions
  • Code and reconcile corporate credit card transactions with proper documentation
  • Assist with balance sheet reconciliations
Month-End Close & Reporting
  • Assist with month‑end and year‑end close processes, including journal entries and accruals.
  • Prepare and support weekly Flash reports and KPI trackers.
  • Process and distribute monthly sales commission reports
  • Respond to management inquiries and ad hoc reporting requests
General Support
  • Assist with audits, documentation, and process improvements
  • Support special projects as needed across accounting and operations
Qualifications
  • 3–5 years of accounting experience (retail, apparel, or eCommerce strongly preferred)
  • Solid understanding of general ledger accounting and basic GAAP principles
  • Hands‑on experience with AP, AR, and reconciliations
  • Experience with eCommerce accounting and Shopify
  • Experience with accounting systems such as Xero
  • Experience with Cin7 or similar inventory/order management systems strongly preferred
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail
  • Collaborative, team‑oriented mindset with clear communication skills
