Job summary

Brilliant is seeking a Senior Accountant in Illinois to own the month-end close, prepare journal entries, and perform detailed balance sheet and income statement analysis. You will support financial reporting and the monthly close while collaborating with the broader accounting and finance teams.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance and 4+ years of progressive accounting experience, with GAAP expertise and full-cycle accounting knowledge.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 4+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• Strong GAAP and full-cycle accounting knowledge.
• Experience with month end close and financial statement preparation.
• CPA or CPA candidacy is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Manage and support the monthly, quarterly, and year end close process
• Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules
• Perform detailed balance sheet and income statement analysis
• Assist with financial reporting and preparation of monthly financial statements
• Manage general ledger activity and ensure accuracy of financial records
• Assist with accounts payable, accounts receivable, and cash management activities as needed
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
• Assist with annual audits and tax-related requests
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and internal controls
• Work cross functionally with internal teams to resolve accounting issues and provide financial information

Brilliant is working with a growing organization in the AEC space that is looking to add a Senior Accountant to its accounting team.

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys taking ownership of the accounting process, working through month end close, and having exposure to a variety of accounting functions. The role will work closely with the broader accounting and finance team and offers the opportunity for continued growth within the organization.
