Job summary

Burnett Specialists Staffing | Recruiting in Houston, TX is seeking a Senior Accountant to join a growing accounting team. This role offers exposure to financial reporting, month-end close, controls, and potential for people management.

Direct hire with a hybrid schedule: in-office Monday-Thursday and remote Friday. You will prepare external statements, manage the close process, maintain fixed assets, and assist with audits while supporting process improvements and leadership reporting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting required.
• 4+ years of public accounting experience required.
• CPA preferred; Big 4 or large regional firm experience is a plus.
• Experience supervising, mentoring or training team members preferred.
• Strong understanding of GAAP, financial reporting, general ledger accounting and month-end close.
• Excellent analytical, organizational and communication skills.
• Microsoft Dynamics GP experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist with preparation of external financial statements and monthly management reporting.
• Support and review month-end close, including accruals, adjusting entries, allocations and reconciliations.
• Maintain fixed assets, including additions, disposals and depreciation.
• Support lease accounting and GAAP compliance.
• Assist with revenue accruals, deferrals, inventory and other critical accounting areas.
• Analyze financial results and provide reporting to management.
• Support monthly reporting packages for leadership and the Board.
• Assist with the annual external audit.
• Help strengthen accounting processes, procedures and internal controls.
• Participate in accounting system implementations and process improvements.
• Provide day-to-day guidance and training to accounting team members.
• Take on increasing people-management responsibility as team grows.
• Handle special projects and ad hoc financial reporting as needed.

Houston, TX | Hybrid Schedule | Direct Hire $98K-$108K + 8% Target Bonus

We are seeking a Senior Accountant to join a growing accounting team in Houston. This is an excellent opportunity for someone coming from public accounting who is ready to move into an industry role with strong exposure to financial reporting, month-end close, technical accounting, controls, and team leadership.

This position reports to the Controller and offers a clear opportunity to grow into people management and increased leadership responsibility.

Schedule: Monday?Thursday in office, Friday remote.

What You Will Do

What We are Looking For

• Bachelor?s degree in Accounting required.
• 4+ years of public accounting experience required.
• Must have completed at least one busy season at the Senior Accountant/Senior Associate level.
• Prior experience supervising, mentoring, training or indirectly leading team members strongly preferred.
• CPA preferred.
• Big 4 or large regional public accounting firm experience is a plus.
• Strong understanding of GAAP, financial reporting, general ledger accounting and month-end close.
• Strong Excel skills, including formulas and PivotTables.
• Excellent analytical, organizational and communication skills.
• Microsoft Dynamics GP experience is a plus.
