JOB DESCRIPTION

The Senior Accountant owns assigned accounting areas and performs complex general accounting, financial reporting, reconciliation, and close activities in accordance with U.S. GAAP and Company policies. This role applies sound accounting judgment, independently investigates and resolves issues, and partners across the organization to ensure transactions and financial results are complete, accurate, timely, and well supported. The Senior Accountant also strengthens internal controls, supports audits and technical accounting matters, leads scoped process improvements, responsibly advances approved automation and AI capabilities, and provides guidance and review support to less-experienced team members.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Month-End Close & General Accounting
  • Own assigned month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities and ensure deliverables are completed accurately within established deadlines.
  • Prepare and review recurring, non-routine, and complex journal entries with complete, audit-ready support.
  • Analyze financial activity, identify unusual trends or transactions, and resolve or accelerate matters with a clear assessment and recommendation.
  • Coordinate dependencies across accounting and business teams to support a timely and disciplined close.
  • Maintain high-quality workpapers, schedules, and evidence in accordance with Company documentation standards and internal controls.
Account Reconciliations & Financial Accuracy
  • Prepare and review complex balance sheet and income statement account reconciliations and related supporting workpapers.
  • Investigate and resolve reconciling items, including aged or recurring balances, and drive timely corrective actions.
  • Perform root-cause analysis of account variances and recommend sustainable process or control improvements.
  • Assess unusual transactions and accounting issues, document conclusions, and transition matters with relevant facts and recommended next steps.
  • Ensure reconciliations and workpapers comply with Company policies, documentation standards, and internal control requirements.
Reporting & Analysis
  • Prepare and analyze recurring financial reports, schedules, and selected components of monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting packages.
  • Develop clear variance and account fluctuation explanations supported by relevant operational and financial data.
  • Interpret financial results, communicate key drivers and risks, and provide actionable insights to accounting leadership and business partners.
  • Validate the completeness and accuracy of source data used in management and financial reporting.
  • Lead ad hoc analyses and accounting projects, presenting conclusions and recommendations appropriate to the intended audience.
Technical Accounting, Controls & Audit Support
  • Research and apply relevant U.S. GAAP and Company accounting policies to new, unusual, or complex transactions.
  • Prepare concise accounting analyses, position documentation, and supporting schedules for management review.
  • Implement, monitor, and improve key accounting control and remediation activities.
  • Coordinate directly with internal and external auditors by preparing support, responding to inquiries, and resolving open items.
  • Support the development and consistent application of accounting policies and procedures.
Process Improvement & Operational Support
  • Lead scoped process improvements that strengthen accuracy, efficiency, scalability, and control effectiveness.
  • Evaluate current-state processes, define requirements, document risks and controls, and coordinate implementation with appropriate stakeholders.
  • Maintain and improve standard operating procedures, process narratives, and related documentation.
  • Validate that implemented changes operate as intended and establish sustainable ownership and monitoring.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Serve as a trusted accounting partner to Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, FP&A, Operations, and other functions.
  • Translate accounting requirements into clear operational actions and resolve cross-functional issues that affect financial reporting.
  • Respond promptly to stakeholder inquiries, using sound judgment to communicate conclusions, risks, and required follow-up.
  • Provide guidance, knowledge sharing, and review support to Staff Accountants and other team members as assigned.
Automation & AI Enablement
  • Independently identify repeatable, rules-based activities suitable for automation and develop a clear business case, risk assessment, and implementation recommendation.
  • Design, test, and validate approved automated or AI-assisted workflows, confirming completeness, accuracy, appropriate access, and effective human review before use.
  • Apply data security, confidentiality, internal control, change-management, and documentation requirements to technology-enabled accounting processes.
  • Monitor automated outputs and exceptions, investigate identified issues, and coordinate timely remediation.
  • Build and share practical proficiency with department-approved tools, including Microsoft Copilot, Claude or similar technologies, while maintaining appropriate accounting ownership and judgment.
