The Reserves Network is seeking an accountant to join its investment finance team in Des Moines, IA. Prior experience in insurance, investment accounting, or statutory reporting is welcome but not required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field is required.
• 2+ years of accounting or financial reporting experience.
• Experience with journal entries, workpapers, reconciliations, and financial reports.
• Solid understanding of GAAP and financial reporting principles.
• Strong Excel skills with data analysis capabilities.
• Detail-oriented with the ability to manage competing deadlines.
• Willingness to learn, ask questions, investigate issues, and take ownership.
• Collaborative approach and clear cross-team communication.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, review, and post monthly investment-related journal entries.
• Maintain workpapers, reconciliations, and supporting documentation.
• Support monthly financial reporting and analyze results versus budget.
• Research significant variances and explain findings to stakeholders.
• Assist with quarterly and annual investment-related regulatory reporting.
• Prepare investment schedules and supporting information for annual audits.
• Coordinate audit requests and help resolve reporting questions.
• Strengthen accounting processes, controls, and reporting efficiency.
• Work across departments to resolve accounting and reporting issues.

The team is looking for someone with strong accounting fundamentals who is curious, collaborative, and eager to learn a specialized area. What You'll Do

• Prepare, review, and post monthly investment-related journal entries

What We're Looking For

• Experience with journal entries, workpapers, reconciliations, and financial reports
• Sound understanding of GAAP and financial reporting principles
• Strong Excel skills, including formulas and data analysis
• Attention to detail and the ability to manage competing deadlines
• A willingness to learn, ask questions, investigate issues, and take ownership
• A collaborative approach and the ability to communicate clearly across teams

Helpful, but not required: Experience with insurance, investment accounting, statutory or regulatory reporting, or audit support. Candidates who bring a solid accounting foundation and an interest in developing these skills are encouraged to apply.
