Job summary

Vaco Recruiter Services is seeking an Accounting and Reporting Manager in Raleigh, NC, to build accounting processes, reporting infrastructure, and internal controls from the ground up. Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA preferred.
  • 3+ years of accounting experience within the insurance industry or with insurance clients.
  • Working knowledge of GAAP, statutory accounting principles, financial reporting, audit support, and account reconciliations.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review recurring financial reporting packages, reconciliations, and supporting schedules for timely and accurate reporting.
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders to support month-end and year-end close activities while complying with GAAP and insurance accounting standards.
  • Assist with external audits by preparing schedules, responding to auditor requests, and maintaining documentation.
  • Reconcile financial activity, investigate discrepancies, and collaborate with internal teams to resolve items.
  • Develop, document, and enhance accounting policies, reporting procedures, and internal controls for a scalable finance organization.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Finance, Operations, Technology, and other partners to improve reporting accuracy and streamline workflows.
  • Identify opportunities to automate manual processes and improve efficiency of reporting activities.
  • Support special projects related to systems implementations and process improvements.
  • Contribute to the development of a best-in-class accounting function in a rapidly expanding business.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA or CPA in process preferred.
  • Three or more years of progressive accounting experience within the insurance industry or public accounting serving insurance clients is required.
  • Working knowledge of GAAP, statutory accounting principles, financial reporting, audit support, and account reconciliations.
