A growing manufacturing organization is seeking a Senior Accountant to join its accounting team. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, supporting month-end close activities, preparing financial reports, and providing meaningful analysis to support business decisions.
The position offers a blend of general accounting, financial reporting, inventory and manufacturing accounting, payroll support, budgeting, forecasting, and sales incentive administration. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment and enjoy partnering cross-functionally with operations, supply chain, sales, and leadership teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and post month-end journal entries and account reconciliations
- Support monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes
- Maintain accuracy of general ledger and balance sheet accounts
- Assist with financial statement preparation and reporting
- Monitor and reconcile accruals and other accounting adjustments
- Support internal and external audit activities
Manufacturing & Cost Accounting
- Manage standard cost updates and cost roll processes
- Perform inventory reconciliations and inventory-related analysis
- Analyze Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) and operational performance trends
- Review manufacturing costs, overhead expenses, scrap, and production variances
- Investigate cost variances and provide recommendations for improvement
- Partner with Operations, Supply Chain, Planning, and Quality teams to ensure accurate inventory valuation
- Support annual overhead rate calculations and budgeting activities
- Develop and enhance reporting methodologies for labor, material, and overhead variance analysis
Payroll & Employee Accounting Support
- Process weekly and bi-weekly payroll for approximately 170 employees
- Prepare payroll-related journal entries and reconciliations
- Calculate payroll accruals and ensure accurate posting to the general ledger
- Review garnishments, benefits deductions, paid time off, and 401(k) contributions
- Validate payroll tax calculations and taxable wage reporting
- Assist with quarterly and year-end payroll filings, W-2 reviews, and payroll audits
- Resolve payroll discrepancies and maintain payroll documentation
- Prepare commission calculations and payment requests
- Manage rebate, pricing support, and incentive program accounting
- Review distributor reporting and ensure data accuracy within the ERP system
- Generate monthly incentive and buying group reporting
- Support pricing analysis and profitability reporting initiatives
- Partner with commercial teams to provide financial insights and decision support
Operational & Accounting Support
- Support annual physical inventory processes
- Assist with cash management activities, including wire transfers
- Serve as backup support for Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions
- Prepare management reports and ad hoc financial analysis
- Participate in process improvement initiatives across accounting and finance
Budgeting & Forecasting
- Monitor and analyze departmental spending against budget
- Assist with forecasting and reforecasting activities
- Support financial planning initiatives by providing timely reporting and analysis
- Manage competing priorities while meeting critical reporting deadlines
Qualifications:
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably within a manufacturing environment
- 3+ years of hands-on standard cost accounting experience
- Strong understanding of GAAP and accounting controls
- Experience supporting month-end and year-end close processes
Technical Skills
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including PivotTables, XLOOKUPs, and complex formulas
- Experience working within ERP systems, preferably Microsoft Dynamics 365
- Strong analytical, reporting, and problem-solving capabilities

The anticipated base salary range for this position is $80,000 – $100,000 annually, depending on experience, skill set, and overall qualifications.
