Overview

A leading oil and gas investment company is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Accountant to join its finance team. The Senior Accountant will oversee core accounting functions, ensure compliance with GAAP and industry standards, and provide financial insights to support investment decisions. This role requires strong technical accounting skills, knowledge of the oil and gas sector, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced investment environment.

Base pay range

$80,000.00/yr - $120,000.00/yr

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day accounting operations, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end close.
• Prepare and analyze financial statements in accordance with US GAAP and industry-specific reporting standards.
• Oversee revenue recognition, depletion, depreciation, and amortization accounting for oil and gas assets.
• Support investment accounting, including tracking capital expenditures, joint ventures, and partnership structures.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax requirements specific to the oil and gas industry.
• Assist with financial planning, variance analysis, and reporting for management and investors.
• Partner with external auditors during annual audits and coordinate audit schedules.
• Monitor and improve internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures.
• Collaborate with operations and investment teams to provide financial insights for asset acquisitions, divestitures, and valuations.
• Mentor junior accounting staff and support team development.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or progress toward CPA preferred.
• 2+ years of accounting or auditing experience
• Advanced proficiency in Excel and familiarity with accounting/ERP systems.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively with cross-functional teams and senior leadership.
