Job summary

MB Companies, an Aebi Schmidt brand located in Chilton, Wisconsin, is seeking a controller-support professional focused on accurate manufacturing cost accounting, margin analysis, and robust financial reporting. You will work closely with Operations, Purchasing, Production, and Management to provide meaningful insights and drive improvements.

The role emphasizes cost accounting, inventory control, month-end close, and ERP-based reporting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field.
• 5+ years progressive accounting experience, preferably in manufacturing.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing cost accounting and inventory accounting.
• Experience with standard costing and manufacturing variance analysis.
• Strong knowledge of general ledger accounting and financial reporting and modeling (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow).
• Proficient in MS Office; advanced Excel (pivot tables, charts, complex formulas).
• Experience with ERP systems (SAP preferred).
• Experience with product costing, BOMs, routings, and manufacturing overhead.
• Preference for budgeting/forecasting experience.
• Preference for multi-product or engineered-to-order manufacturing experience.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and analyze manufacturing cost accounting records, including direct materials, direct labor and overhead; assess improvements.
• Assist with establishing labor and overhead rates.
• Develop and maintain reports on manufacturing performance, product costs, margins, inventory, and efficiency.
• Perform variance analysis with Operations and Purchasing to identify root causes and actions.
• Assist with monthly financial statements, journal entries and GL reconciliations.
• Support physical inventory and cycle-count programs.
• Assist management in evaluating capex, cost-saving initiatives and operational improvements.
• Calculate and report key metrics to drive process improvements.
• Document accounting procedures and recommend changes.
• Assist with internal controls, audits and tax prep.
• Prepare recurring and ad hoc financial analyses for management.
• May work in AP/AR/GL/Payroll as needed.

Position

This position will support the Controller and is responsible for accuracy of financial data, including but not limited to cost accounting, margin analysis, account reconciliations, general ledger maintenance, fixed asset maintenance, planning and process improvements. This position works closely with Operations, Purchasing, Production, Engineering, Sales, and Management to ensure accurate financial reporting and to provide meaningful information to support operational and business decisions.

• May be asked to work in all facets of accounting, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, General Ledger and Payroll, as needed.

Qualifications

• A Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field of study
• Five or more years of proven progressive accounting experience, preferably within a manufacturing environment.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing cost accounting and inventory accounting.
• Experience with standard costing and manufacturing variance analysis.
• Strong knowledge of general ledger accounting and financial reporting and modeling, including P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow.
• Strong MS Office experience. Proficient in excel, including pivot tables, charts and complex formulas. Experience working with report writing or business intelligence tools a plus.
• Previous experience working with an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system (SAP preferred)
• Experience with product costing, bill of materials, routings, and manufacturing overhead.
• Prefer, experience with budgeting and forecasting.
• Prefer, experience in a multi-product or engineered-to-order manufacturing environment.
• Exceptional organization skills and attention to detail with the ability to identify issues and propose solutions to non-standard situations.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with Operations and other departments.
