Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required; CPA preferred.
• 3–4+ years of progressive accounting experience; public company experience preferred.
• Solid knowledge of US GAAP and accounting policies.
• Proficiency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint; NetSuite a plus.

Responsibilities

• Own key parts of monthly close and journal entries.
• Build accrual and revenue models for clinical trial and manufacturing activity.
• Ensure expenses are charged to correct departments and projects.
• Prepare monthly close-related journal entries and reconciliations.
• Deliver monthly and quarterly financial reporting and analysis to management.

Steven Douglas is partnering with a publicly traded clinical-stage biotechnology company that is looking to fill a newly created Senior Accountant position. The Senior Accountant will own key parts of the monthly close and act as the accounting partner to research, clinical, and manufacturing teams, making sure program and trial costs are captured accurately. This is an excellent next step for a Staff/Senior Accountant that is looking for broader exposure in a fast-paced public company setting.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain complex accrual and revenue models, with a focus on clinical trial and manufacturing activity
• Partner with research, clinical, and manufacturing teams to obtain timely and accurate cost data
• Make sure expenses are recorded to the correct departments and projects
• Prepare monthly journal entries and account reconciliations to support the month-end close
• Deliver monthly and quarterly reporting and analysis on cash, clinical and R&D spend, fixed assets, revenue, and expenses to support management decision-making
• Respond to ad hoc analysis requests and questions about the company’s financial reports
• Support annual and quarterly financial statement audits
• Maintain SOX compliance and supporting documentation
• Evaluate current systems and processes and drive improvements
• Contribute to additional projects as needed

Qualifications

• Working knowledge of US technical accounting standards and policies
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
• NetSuite experience is a plus
