Job summary

CFS in Maryland is seeking a Senior Accountant to lead reconciliations, support month-end close, and drive process improvements within a growing accounting & finance team.

You will partner with senior leadership on modernization initiatives, work with analytics tools like Power BI, and participate in budgeting, forecasting, and audits. A CPA/MBA is a plus; a multi-entity environment experience is valued.

Qualifications

• 3 to 7 years of progressive accounting experience.
• Demonstrated success improving or redesigning accounting processes.
• High level of technical aptitude with the ability to quickly learn new systems and tools.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, preparation, and continuous improvement of balance sheet and income statement reconciliations across multiple business lines
• Play a key role in month-end close activities, including journal entries, accruals, and financial statement accuracy
• Drive process optimization and implement best practices to support scalable, timely, and accurate reporting
• Support revenue, WIP, AR, and expense accounting activities, ensuring proper classification and compliance
• Collaborate closely with finance leadership on strategic initiatives, systems enhancements, and use of technology
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and audit or financial statement review processes
• Operate independently on special projects and ad-hoc analysis with minimal oversight

Must-Have Skills & Experience (Required)

• Strong hands-on experience with account reconciliations and month-end close
• Demonstrated success improving or redesigning accounting processes
• High level of technical aptitude with the ability to quickly learn new systems and tools
• Advanced Excel skills and comfort working in data-driven environments
• Curiosity and readiness to work with modern analytics tools (Power BI, AI-enabled reporting)

Preferred Background

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
• CPA or MBA a plus
• Experience working in multi-entity or project-based environments
• Familiarity with ERP systems (Sage or similar platforms preferred)
• Salesforce a plus!
