Job summary

PEG Staffing & Recruiting is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join its finance team in Missouri. You will maintain accurate financial records, strengthen processes, and provide insights to support better decisions.

This role partners with senior leadership, leads month-end close, coordinate reconciliations, and helps with budgeting, audits, and compliance. The right candidate combines technical accounting knowledge with initiative and collaboration.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 3–5 years of progressive accounting experience.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting.
  • Experience with QuickBooks, SAP, or similar ERP.
  • Advanced Excel skills (VLOOKUP, pivot tables).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent organization and time-management.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Experience with payroll processing and HR support.

Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of general-ledger maintenance and ensure transactions are recorded accurately in accordance with GAAP and company policies.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports.
  • Lead or support month-end and year-end close activities.
  • Perform account and balance-sheet reconciliations and resolve discrepancies.
  • Prepare and post journal entries for accruals and reclassifications.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis with insights.
  • Assist with tax compliance responsibilities, including state sales tax filings.
  • Prepare documentation and support external audits.
  • Maintain accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
  • Manage payroll processing and support HR functions as needed.
  • Collaborate with teams to resolve issues and maintain data accuracy.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline processes and improve controls.

WHAT YOU’LL
