Job description

Solarcore is an advanced materials technology company that develops the most scientifically innovative thermal solutions on the planet. We are on a mission to solve the world’s largest thermal efficiency problems by revolutionizing the antiquated world of thermal insulation.

This is a sales and business development role which will own the creation, development, and closure of new projects across multiple soft goods categories within the Government sales channel.

This is a quota-carrying role with full-cycle ownership of project generation, application development, and deal close within the Government Soft Goods vertical. You will operate with high autonomy and work directly with OEMs, Prime partners, brand product-development teams, design and innovation teams, and relevant Government/end-user stakeholders to advance soft goods solutions involving thermal insulation requirements.

This position will report to the VP Sales – Soft Goods and will collaborate with Product Development, Marketing, Operations and Finance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Proactively identify and pursue specific finished good projects across Government/Military/Tactical soft-goods applications by working with OEMs, Prime partners, brands, and relevant end users to create pull-through demand for Solarcore. Brand partners may also cross over into Consumer markets.
  • Identify and develop projects to lead to relationships with product innovation, design, engineering, sourcing, program, procurement, and commercial stakeholders across targeted OEMs, Prime partners, brands, and Government/end-user organizations.
  • Translate material performance attributes into compelling product-level value propositions within the Government sales channel.
  • Educate end-users (warfighters, procurement officers) and product engineers on Solarcore’s unique technical value proposition.
  • Collaborate closely with internal product development and technical teams to guide application development, testing, and validation.
  • Lead opportunities from first engagement through product launch.
  • Manage long-cycle, multi-stakeholder sales processes and maintain momentum through ambiguity and iteration.
  • Build and manage a robust pipeline in the Government sales channel for soft goods end-use applications.
  • Represent Solarcore at industry forums, tradeshows, customer engagements, and strategic planning events.
  • Other duties as assigned
Experience and Requirements
  • 5+ years of quota-carrying B2G/B2B sales, business development, or commercial experience; Government/Defense, OEM, Prime, tactical soft-goods, or adjacent technical-product experience strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to develop productive relationships across Government/Defense customers, OEMs, Prime contractors, system integrators, tactical equipment manufacturers, or related partners.
  • Working knowledge of Government/Defense procurement and acquisition environments, with the ability to navigate complex customer, partner, and end-user organizations.
  • Working knowledge of export controls and government contracting frameworks such as FAR/DFARS; exposure to allied or NATO-equivalent frameworks is a plus.
  • Comfort engaging deeply with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • High level of autonomy, curiosity, and resilience in fast-moving or early-stage environments
  • Attend company meetings at Solarcore Headquarters in Portland, OR.
Preferred Skills
  • Experience in advanced materials, insulation systems, performance textiles, or component technologies.
  • Background working with or selling into the Government sales channel for footwear, apparel, accessories and other soft goods end-use applications.
  • Familiarity with product development cycles, testing protocols, and commercialization timelines.
