Job summary

University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is seeking an Access Control/Security Alarm Technician to join the Building Services team in Chapel Hill, NC. The role supports CCTV, card access, and electrified hardware, with a focus on reliability and safety across campus facilities.

The position is full-time, 40 hours per week, Monday–Friday, with a starting salary range of $52,549 to $74,585 and a $4,919 sign-on bonus paid in two installments.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in electronics; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
• All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
• Experience with electronic access and security systems is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a technical resource supporting lower grade technicians in security, access, CCTV, and key controls.
• Design Card Access, Security, and CCTV installations to meet department needs.
• Anticipate maintenance issues by examining system performance and trends.
• Identify training needs and orient new technicians assigned to the shop.
• Must possess a valid NC Driver’s License or obtain one prior to hire.
• Valid NC Locksmith License required or ability to obtain within 12 months.
