Job summary

The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is seeking an Electronics Specialist – Contributing to support the Life Safety‑Access Control shop. You will handle installations, maintenance, and inspections of access control, biometrics, CCTV, and door systems across UNC facilities.

Knowledge of NFPA, ADA, and building codes is essential, with certifications maintained for CBORD systems. Requires an Associate’s degree in electronics or equivalent experience, and a valid NC driver’s license;

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in electronics; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
• Must possess a valid NC Driver’s License or have the ability to obtain one prior to hire.
• A valid NC Locksmith License is required, or ability to obtain within 12 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Perform installations, modifications, maintenance, and inspections of the building key control cabinet network and UNC One Card access system, including ADA integration.
• Carry out preventive maintenance inspections and repairs on access control systems, biometrics readers, security alarms, CCTV and UNC One Card access system.
• Maintain familiarity with industry standards, NC Building Codes, NFPA standards, and ADA codes relevant to the systems.
• Work in the Life Safety‑Access Control shop to support doors, alarms, readers, and integration with fire alarm systems.
