Job summary

University of California is seeking an Academic Personnel Analyst 3 to lead faculty recruitment, appointments, and payroll-related processes. You will advise leadership on academic personnel policies, ensure compliance, and coordinate credentialing and visas while managing complex personnel matters with confidentiality.

You will demonstrate strong analytical skills, the ability to prioritize competing needs, and the capacity to work with diverse stakeholders across departments.

Qualifications

• 4-6 years of subject matter expertise for area(s) of greatest % responsibility.
• Bachelor’s Degree and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Thorough knowledge of UC-wide Academic Personnel Policies (APM) and bargaining union contracts.
• Thorough knowledge of local department bylaws governing academic personnel administration.
• Thorough knowledge of Compensation Plan bylaws, including Outside Professional Activities.
• Demonstrated analytical skills to conduct analysis, develop recommendations, and resolve issues.
• Demonstrated ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines.
• Ability to handle sensitive information and maintain confidentiality.
• Excellent oral and written communication with diverse audiences.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the department’s subject matter expert for academic personnel matters.
• Manage faculty recruitment, appointments, advancements, separations, dossier preparation, leave administration, benefits, payroll, and employee relations.
• Advise faculty and leadership on academic personnel policies and ensure compliance with guidelines.
• Coordinate credentialing, privileging, visa sponsorships, and special licensing programs.
• Provide strategic guidance to support departmental goals.
