Job summary

University of Iowa in Iowa City seeks a Senior Academic Advisor to coordinate undergraduate academic operations for the College of Education’s ESHR and CBHS programs. You will provide comprehensive advising, facilitate transfer credit, and support admission decisions while collaborating with faculty and staff.

You will also help schedule courses, assist with scholarships and experiential learning, and contribute to recruiting events and program assessment in a student-centered environment.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in student affairs, education, or a related field or equivalent experience.
• 1-3 years of experience with undergraduate students in an academic setting.
• Experience advising undergraduates and addressing their needs.
• Familiarity with career development, recruiting, and professional networks.
• Ability to establish positive relationships with university and community partners.

Responsibilities

• Provide academic advising including plans of study, course selections, and graduation requirements.
• Coordinate transfer credit evaluation and exceptions to policies.
• Advise current and prospective students regarding admission.
• Assist Director of Administration with scholarship processes.
• Support experiential learning opportunities, internships, and required paperwork.
• Establish partnerships with community organizations for experiential learning.
• Schedule CBHS and ESHR courses in MAUI, including rooms and instructors.
• Liaise with faculty, TAs, and Registrar on scheduling and policies.
• Monitor enrollment and assist with course scheduling for applicants.
• Assist Recruitment Specialist with undergraduate events for ESHR and CBHS.
• Review funding for TA/adjuncts and issue contracts each semester.
